A Building
on the East side of Grenoble
for EGE church
OUR PROJECT
To shine with the light of Christ on the east side of Grenoble
After long months of prayer and searching
an incredible door has opened for us
The St. Bernard Chapel, located a short bike ride from the university campus, is for sale!
We are amazed by God’s faithfulness and goodness throughout the story of our community.
Here are some updates on our projects in pictures.

Due to COVID, the EGE is being hosted at the EPEGE, a larger church but farther from the campus.
The Diocese of Grenoble is offering the Saint-Bernard Chapel for sale.
We gather in assembly for a service at Saint-Bernard Chapel to collectively discern whether this place would suit our community.
⟶ It’s a YES!
We sign the preliminary sales agreement.
We launch our crowdfunding campaign.
Church members mobilize actively, and the elders work hard to handle the many administrative matters.
The Lord blesses us with numerous donors from all over the world, enabling us to raise the necessary funds for the purchase.
We buy the Chapel! 🥳
A team from Grace Church comes to help us kick off the renovations! Many of them are professionals! They work wonders, and in just one week, the work progresses significantly!
We carry out small projects gradually, taking turns gathering on Saturdays. We work on restoring the garden, painting, flooring…
A professional will redo the roof, with a budget of around €70K.
We hope to all gather in the chapel for our first services 🙌

Where do we stand?
Our reasons
Vision
Connecting the space where we worship together
to the space where we live and witness together.
Church life
Enjoying greater flexibility in the use of facilities
both for worship and for neighborhood witness.
Renewal
Bringing new life to an otherwise lifeless church building
in an under-resourced corner of our township.
Training
Hosting workshops, conferences, and other regional equipping events
for church leaders and disciple-makers.
The Project
Our goal is to complete the purchase of the St. Bernard Chapel
from the Catholic diocese in June of 2025.
This property is reasonably priced, easily accessible, already zoned as a church, and large enough to accommodate our congregation with room for numeric growth. It is located on the edge of a low-income neighborhood with a highly diverse immigrant population.
After many years of limited use, it will need substantial renovations.
Description:Â
Land: 1035m2 / 11140,65 sq ft
Building: 420m2/ 4520,84 sq ft
1 auditorium which can welcome up to 150 people, and 4 annex rooms
Funding
Thanks to numerous donations from all over France and the world, we were able to raise the €450,000 needed to purchase the chapel.
We are now entering a second phase :Â the renovations.
Before we can start gathering in the chapel, major work needs to be done. We estimate the total cost of the renovations to be around 243 800 CAD (=150 000 €)Â
